MFBT – Day 9

Today started off with breakfast in the hotel restaurant which was alright. They had fresh omelettes which was acceptable, and the saving grace of course is free wifi in the lobby and downstairs restaurant area. I then ventured out of the hotel to get some basic necessities (ran out of clean socks and didn’t want to pay high hotel laundry fees, hehe). I got directions from the concierge and walked up towards Chinatown and found a local shopping mall. I found my socks and then toyed with the idea of grabbing a taxi back to the hotel because the sun had come out and it was getting REALLY hot. I decided that I could ‘hoof’ it back to the hotel and save the taxi fare (“don’t be lazy!”). Unfortunately, I was wearing my sandals and got a blister from the walking, so now I’m stuck with a blister on my right foot and this week is going to be a lot of traveling. Pray for quick healing.

Later I had lunch with the Yoong’s (cousins on my dad’s side) with chicken rice at their house. It was a lot of fun to catchup and acquaint myself with their three boys. Here’s a shot of me with the youngest, Jayden:

Afterwards, I went shopping with my cousing Valerie (on my mom’s side) for some gifts for Rebecca and the girls. Here’s a shot of one of the many shopping malls at Orchard Road:

Certainly one of the things that I appreciate about my trip so far in Malaysia and Singapore is the proliferation of Coffee Bean everywhere! Ice Blended Mochas are a real blessing in the Southeast Asia heat.

Afterwards, we went to the afternoon service at Valerie’s church. I hadn’t realized how accustomed I had become to the Newsong worship. It was certainly a refresher as to how most churches are still like. I miss Newsong.

For dinner, we met up with the rest of the Co family for some good Singaporean Chinese Food at the Singapore Island Polo Club. Mmmm, yum, chili crab, that was the best. I told my uncle afterwards, that I was not just full, but ‘insanely’ full. We finished the evening off with some drinks at the Shangri-la.
