This morning I got up at 6:30am and drove up with our Malaysia General Manager to Port Dickson (a resort city south of KL) to participate in a seminar where I gave my speech. I think it went well enough and it was sincerely fun to spend time with our distributors. Here’s a picture from my seat in the back:

We drove back to KL later in the afternoon and I was able to relax and decided to go checkout the Mid-Valley Megamall. I kid you not, it was like walking through South Coast Plaza with the exact same stores! Thankfully, there was one store that I truly appreciated:

Unfortunately, the rest of the mall including food court was just as generic as the malls back in the US. The one interesting spot was a little corner of computer stores; unfortunately, the prices weren’t all that great. I’ll probably have to checkout the actual tech shopping area in town to find good deals.
Afterwards, I went back to the hotel and decided to workout in the hope that it would help me in completing my jetlag transition. Here’s a shot of the little workout room (at least they have a recumbent stationary bike):

This coming week is going to be pretty busy with lots of meetings and lots of flying to different cities throughout Malaysia. Pray for wisdom, physical, spiritual and emotional strength.
I had some Penang Curry Mee (that’s what we think of as Laksa, which is not entirely accurate) at the mall, but it was nasty and not really worth mentioning
. I’ll explain the distinction of true Laksa when I actually have a good bowl! Unfortunately, this trip so far hasn’t been very good in terms of food. I’m probably just not going to the right places. That’s probably partly because I’ve been left to my own devices for a couple of meals over the weekend. That should change this coming week. They definitely could use Yelp for Malaysia.
Good job on the speech! If I were there I’d be packing on the weight while walking around and eating everything in sight! Eat some good Laksa for me
