For my first day in Taipei, I got to sleep in a bit and had breakfast in the hotel restaurant downstairs. Unfortunately, they don’t have those great breakfast sandwiches that I would get before when staying here. I did spot a sandwich shop on the way to the office, but not sure if I’ll get a chance to try it. Here is a view at the garden courtyard outside of the hotel:

After a staff meeting at the Taipei office, we caught a plane to Kaohsiung for a meeting with the sales leaders there. Afterwards, they took us to a local seafood restaurant that had some incredibly fresh ingredients:

We were able to catch an earlier flight back to Taipei. They even had free wifi in the business lounge while we waited for our flight.
The lame thing is that after we landed in Taipei, I was waiting in the aisle to get off and a guy in front of me pulled a bag out of the overhead compartment without looking and hit me in the face! Actually in hindsight, it probably would have been a lot worse if I hadn’t seen it coming and ducked out of the way. The guy realized what happened and said sorry, then ran off, dork. Not sure what I would have done if I wasn’t so tired and wasn’t accompanied by our Taiwan staff. I had a minor scratch above my lip which bled a little bit. Our staff asked if I was ok as we walked out of the airport, and I said it wasn’t too bad. Just count it off as one of the risks of traveling. At least the guy said he was sorry, whatever.
At least we got back early enough so that I could make a run to 7-11, which could very well be the “happiest place on earth” or at least in Taiwan. The 7-11′s in Taiwan are infinitely better than what we have in the US. They actually have stuff that is worth buying! I got some orange juice, Mr. Brown Blue Mountain Iced Coffee, and even discovered Calpis Sour.
On the way to 7-11, there was a McDonald’s and I treated myself to a fried apple pie. What a shame, they don’t have these in the US anymore, fried apple pies, that is:
